The Maryland Wine Festival
WHERE: The Carroll Farm Museum,
500 South Center Street,
Westminster MD 21157
(Carroll County Maryland Wine Festivals, Craft Fairs, Vendor Events.)
DESCRIPTION: Located in Central Maryland in Westminster, The Carroll County Farm Museum is the host to the annual Maryland Wine Festival®. The very first Maryland Wine Festival was held in 1984 at the Shriver Homestead in Union Mills with eight wineries and approximately 4,500 to 5,000 visitors in attendance. It was a one-day festival that quickly outgrew the property. The Maryland Wine Festival® was moved to the Carroll County Farm Museum, and it became a two-day affair. Now, the Wine Festival consistently hosts wines from over 30 Maryland Wineries Association’s member wineries while the visitor attendance has grown to over 20,000 yearly.
The Carroll County Farm Museum also provides the public with the opportunity to experience mid-nineteenth century rural life. The Museum grounds include original farm structures, such as the Farmhouse and a bank barn, built in 1852-53. Other buildings include a 1700’s Log Barn, Smokehouse, Broom Shop, Saddlery, Springhouse, Living History Center, Wagon Shed, General Store exhibit, Firehouse, and a one-room schoolhouse.
